Biography
My name is Alberto Granados Fernández, born in Madrid.
I was inspired by a teacher I met in high school and with whom I travelled to Greece in 1999 and decided to study Classics. I finished my Classics studies (2006) and in 2007 I started working as a Spanish language teacher in language centres in Thessaloniki. At the same time I did my Master's degree in Teaching Spanish to Foreigners (2014).
In 2013 I was selected by the Spanish Ministry of Education and the U.S. Department of Children to work as a Spanish teacher in public primary and secondary schools in Louisiana. There I was trained in research projects (Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures Training) involving the integration of social studies and working through collaborative activities on social issues. I also attended programs based on collaborative learning strategies through digital tools and games.
In 2017 I moved to the UK where I worked in secondary schools where I was exposed to a different style of education mainly in terms of new ways of assessment. In 2019 I returned to Spain where I worked as an English teaching assistant and then as an English teacher in primary and secondary schools. In 2021 I returned to Greece and started working in a language centre in Patras. In 2022 I moved to Thessaloniki where I continued to work as a Spanish teacher at Castilla language centre.
During my professional career, I have perfected my ability to use effective teaching methods in line with modern educational trends and the specific educational needs of each student. I am dedicated to improving the educational experiences of my students and assisting in motivating achievement. Also, my main concern is to maintain the best possible level of contagiousness during the lesson and a positive atmosphere of cooperation among students.
Moreover, thanks to the various seminars I have participated in the countries I have taught in, I have gained a lot of knowledge and experience in handling digital-interactive learning tools, collaborative learning strategies, game-based education and the creation of personalised training programmes.
In my free time, I enjoy fitness, traveling, music and reading.
Teaching offers love. Not only the love of learning, of books and ideas, but also the love that a teacher feels when a student is able to express his ideas and concerns and dreams comfortably in a language he has learned to love in collaboration with others and with the teacher as a facilitator.
